Assisted Living & Memory Care in Lincoln, NE

Looks like home, feels like family

Welcome to our communities at The Independence Houses!

We have expanded our services to include Assisted Living in addition to Memory Care under one roof.

Our Assisted Living option is best for people who need help with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, taking medications, transportation to doctor appointments and general housekeeping and laundry services. These residents memory loss isn’t yet an immediate concern. Also, socialization and activities are offered; in addition, a library, beauty salon and general store are available on site.
Our Memory Care option is a smart choice for individuals with memory loss or dementia. It offers all the services of Assisted Living and more! It is a specialized level of care that provides more support with activities of daily living which can be more challenging due to confusion, agitation or aggressive behaviors. So a higher staff-to-resident ratio is provided. Many residents with dementia cannot express their needs to staff, so staff gets to know each resident and individualized care is provided. Security is paramount, there are locked entrances and exits, so residents cannot wander off. A facility layout that decreases confusion, i.e. no dead end hallways. Activities that keep our residents engaged and active, are provided.

Both types of services have Administrators, licensed Registered Nurses and APRN’s available on site. Trained staff on site 24 hours per day.

While Assisted Living and Memory Care may differ in the level of support provided, the emphasis on high quality of care and sense of community is enjoyed by all our residents.

True "Aging in Place"

“No one wants to see a loved one suffer from Alzheimer’s or other diseases that cause memory loss and dementia. But at The Independence House, my mom isn’t just another patient – she’s a person with thoughts and feelings who’s treated with the respect she deserves. Making the decision to place a loved one is never easy… I can rest easy knowing my mom is being taken care of when I can’t be there. And that is a tremendous gift.”

Lynette V.

“There is no harder task than finding the right home for your loved one when they require more care and safety becomes a great concern. We struggled with this when the right time to make that move for my mother, especially in the middle of a pandemic.”

“We found the perfect home for our mother at The Independence House. The staff are all caring, well trained, and compassionate. Their good humor and cheer have consistently brightened our mother’s days. We have such peace knowing mom is in a safe environment surrounded by a staff that has truly become her friends. The Independence House is inviting and has all the comforts of home. It is a place that we enjoy visiting and always feel welcome.”

Robin B.

“When Mom required more support, we found a loving, supportive environment and much more at The Independence House. It did not feel as if she were in a nursing facility. Mom truly believed it was her home and referred to it that way. Very welcoming rooms; personal space all very home like.”

“The most important thing was how the COVID-19 issues were handled. Staff went above and beyond to ensure the safety of the residents and the staff. They found new and wonderful ways to keep us connected; filled ordinary days with love. We couldn’t be more pleased and never doubt for one minute that our choice for Mom was the right”

Zoe O.

“My favorite thing about Independence Houses are the staff. I was always made to feel welcome when I visited. I could see they knew the residents well. I was in awe of the way they handled everything with kindness. If I had questions they were answered. The staff ratio to resident was also great.”

Connie B.

“Our mom tells everyone who will listen how much she loves living at The Independence House. The staff are wonderful, she loves the activities, and she has made many friends. We know she is well cared for socially, physically, and emotionally, and that gives us peace of mind.”
